The 31.5m luxury motor yacht BLACK PEARL (Build Project 08) by Diverse Projects and LOMOcean Design with an interior designed by Chris Connell was launched in Whangarei, New Zealand on the 29th of December 2010. M/Y Black Pearl is the largest yacht ever built by the New Zealand yard Diverse Projects.
The pre-dawn rituals of Takahi and the Blessing ceremony started at 5am, followed by the actual launch just before high tide at approximately 2pm, everything went really smoothly and it didn’t take long before the superyacht Black Pearl was tied up at the dock. Now the Diverse Projects team will do the finishing touches to the interior of the boat and commence sea trials shortly. The official handover and christening celebrations of the 31.5m yacht Black Pearl will be held in Auckland on January the 22nd before she heads off on her maiden journey in February 2011 which will see her initially cruise New Zealand before shipping to the Mediterranean for a world cruise ending in Australia.
Motor yacht Black Pearl (BP08) features sleek lines designed by LOMOcean Design (formerly Craig Loomes Design Group). The 31.5 metre passagemaker was built to Germanischer Lloyd 100 A5 class and New Zealand MSA survey. With Twin Caterpillar C18 ACERT 600HP engines, she will cruise at 12.5 knots. The interior designed by Chris Connell features a layout able to accommodate up to 8 guests in a master suite, a VIP and two double cabins. There is separate crew accommodation for five.
Diverse Projects and LOMOcean Design have been exploring the development potential of the Black Pearl motor yacht design and have developed two new designs, the 35m BP world cruiser motor yacht and the larger 40m BP class motor yacht. These new motor yachts which very obviously carry the Black Pearl’s genes, are targeted at meeting new demands and emerging market trends identified by Lars Bjorklund and John Vitali of Diverse Projects.
