Construction & Naval Architecture of Luxury Yacht AMERICA
The yacht's wider design collaboration came from Olin J Stephens and George Steers. The formal naval architect firm plans are the creation of Olin J Stephens. In 1967 she was formally launched to celebration in East Boothbay Me and following sea trials and final completion was then handed over to the yacht owner. Goudy & Stevens completed their new build sailing yacht in the United States. A moderate feeling is achieved with a total beam (width) of 6.71 m / 22 ft. With a 3.66m (12ft) draught (maximum depth) she is fairly deep. The material pine wood wooden with oak wooden frames was used in the building of the hull of the sailing yacht. Her superstructure over the hull is created from teak. Over the deck of AMERICA she is 31.36 (102.9 ft) in length. In 1996 further refit work and modernisation was also finished.
