When Aristotle Onassis bought the vessel in 1954, he converted her into the most modern, largest yacht of her era at an expense of over $4 million. CHRISTINA O became his floating mansion and headquarters for over two decades until he died in 1975. Steeped in history CHRISTINA O has been host to many celebrities, famous and influential people including Maria Callas, John Paul Getty, John D Rockefeller, Eva Peron, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Rudolf Nureyev, John Wayne, Greta Garbo and Dame Margot Fonteyn to name a few. John F Kennedy and Sir Winston Churchill first met as guests of Aristotle Onassis onboard CHRISTINA O and two of the century's most celebrated wedding receptions were held on CHRISTINA O - Prince Rainier to Princess Grace, and Onassis to Jackie Kennedy. Christina, who was Onassis's daughter donated CHRISTINA O to the Greek Government in 1978 and it ultimately became disused. CHRISTINA O was then purchased by a family friend of Onassis in 1998 and underwent a complete refit, restoring her to her former glory and with the addition of all the latest technologies and equipment. CHRISTINA O boasts a swimming pool which converts to a dance floor, a large Spa Pool and extensive sunbathing decks. She can host up to 250 guests on her canopied decks and has fabulous areas for indoor entertaining, including a luxurious dining room capable of seating up to 40 guests.

Howaldtswerke was the naval architecture company involved in the professional nautical design work for CHRISTINA O. Her interior design was realised by Apostolos Molindris. Howaldtswerke and Prof Cesare Pinau and Costas Carabelas is also associated with the yacht wider design collaboration for this boat. In 1943 she was formally launched with celebration in Montreal Pq and post sea trials and detailing was then delivered to the owner. Canadian Vickers Shipyards completed their new build motor yacht in Canada. Her hull was constructed with steel. The motor yacht superstructure is fabricated predominantly with steel.
