A General Description of Motor Yacht ESPERANZA
This motor yacht ESPERANZA is a 72 m 237 (foot) impressive steel boat which was completely constructed by Stocznia Polnocna and designed from the design board of Russian Government. The lengthy converted private yacht ESPERANZA is a very cleverly designed Poland built superyacht which was launched to accolade in 1984. Sleeping 36 guests and 12 professional crew, motor yacht ESPERANZA was formerly Vikhr-4. The firm of naval architecture who actualised her design work on this ship was Russian Government. She could be described as a traditional converted private yacht.
The motor vessel ESPERANZA (Spanish for "hope") was the 4th of 14 fire-fighting vessels commissioned by the Russian government between 1983 and 1987 from Stocznia Polnocna construction yard in Gdansk, Poland. The only requirements were speed and that the yachts were of a Heavy ice class. A lack of funds meant the ship laid up for some years in the late 80s, then sold a couple of times, finally working in Norway as a supply vessel. The yacht was then converted in an environmentally friendly way by Greenpeace. A new helicopter deck was added, as well as special boat cranes to launch the inflatables and of course the rainbow was painted on the side. Re launched in February 2002, the MV ESPERANZA replaced the now retired MV Greenpeace.
