A General Description of Motor Yacht HALAS
This motor yacht HALAS is a 52 m 169 (ft) large steel ship which was manufactured by Fairfield Shipbuilding and designed by Fairfield Shipbuilding. Accommodating 28 guests and 22 qualified crew, motor yacht HALAS used to be called 502 Waterwitch; Bosphorus No. 71; Halas; Halas 71; Rashid Pasha which was her project name or yacht title.
Promptly requisitioned by the British government for the war effort, she saw service beginning in 1915 as H.M.S. Waterwitch, acting as a troop ferry first at Lemnos and then in the Dardanelles. She is reported to be one of only two Royal Navy vessels at Gallipoli still in service, from war's end serving the Occupation Authority in Istanbul.
