Ursa Major was launched at the Malahide shipyard just outside of Dublin Ireland in 1972. Her 65 feet long and almost 20 feet wide structure is a magnificent example of "Old World" craftsmanship. Ursa Major was built to the rugged "Det Norske Veritas" construction standards certifying her to operate year round in the extreme conditions of the North Sea. She has a heavy displacement hull, high bulwarks, and stabilizer systems and is powered by a heavy-duty Caterpillar Diesel Engine with two diesel auxiliary generators. These combined, guarantees Ursa Major's guests a comfortable and safe cruise in foul or fair weather while in Alaska's Inside Passage. The classic North Sea Trawler consists of a wooden hull with aluminum housing. Her rich mahogany interior is warm and inviting made possible by skylight hatches in each stateroom and bright interior lighting. She combines the tradition and beauty of wood with the comfort of home for your adventures in Puget Sound and Southeast Alaska. She has an expansive foredeck and well covered side walkways, a glorious upper sun deck, salon and separate breakfast nook, and congenial wheelhouse. With her colorful history and some of the finest passages in the world you are sure to have the time of your life aboard Ursa Major. Please note that the price shown is the rate for 6 quests.
