UTOPIA used to be project/yacht name 667. This 72 metre (235 foot) luxury yacht was produced by The Feadship De Vries Shipyard in 2004. Motor Yacht UTOPIA is a significant superyacht. When completed in May 2004, UTOPIA held the distinction of being the largest Feadship built to date. The magnificent motor yacht UTOPIA was one of two Feadships ordered in 2001 by a repeat owner who sadly passed away before the project’s completion. His widow decided to finish the other 38.55-meter (126’5”) motor yacht called KATRION and reluctantly asked Feadship to complete UTOPIA on spec and sell her on behalf of the estate. A unique feature of the yacht is her helicopter deck that provides important safely designs such as a special device which attaches the helicopter to the deck within a fraction of a second.

De Voogt Naval Architects was the naval architecture company involved in the professional nautical composition for UTOPIA. Also the company De Voogt Naval Architects expertly worked on this undertaking. Interior designer Redman Whiteley Dixon / Michael Mcquiston was selected for the overall interior ambience. Built at The Feadship De Vries Shipyard the vessel was fabricated in the recognised yachting country the Netherlands. She was successfully launched in Papendrecht in 2004 before being delivered to the owner. A fairly large feeling is brought about with a widest beam (width) of 11.4 m / 37.3 ft. With a 3.59m (11.8ft) draught (maximum depth) she is fairly deep. The material steel was used in the building of the hull of the motor yacht. Her superstructure above deck is built from aluminium. In 2008 extra refitting and updating was in addition finished.

The 3516B DITA engine powering the yacht is made by CATERPILLAR. For propulsion UTOPIA has twin screw propellers. The engine of the ship creates 2200 horse power (or 1619 kilowatts). She is fitted with 2 engines. The total thrust for the boat is thus 4400 HP or 3238 KW.
