Spetses Yacht Charter

Spetses is a wonderful playground for the global elite, Greek tycoons and yacht charter enthusiasts. It’s an island that has an old-world feel about it, a nautical charm and spectacular scenery. There’s a great mix of traditional and modern restaurants as well as beautiful beaches. The bars and boutiques range from modest to deluxe, all exuding a Greek-island bohemian atmosphere. Read the Essential Greece charter guide.

This lovely island, located in the Saronic Gulf, is one of the Saronic Island Groups that have been called the new Greek Riviera. Ask your captain to sail to Spetses from Athens or Piraeus where you’ll be welcomed into the port. At the port is the 100-year-old Poseidon Grand Hotel – an impressive sight that over the years has hosted many famous stars such as Ingrid Bergman, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. The town has undergone a makeover and the marina has plenty of berths to accommodate Athenian weekenders along with luxury yachts on week-long charters.

The pale white buildings and orange roof tiles are the model of a Greek town and Spetses has avoided becoming a major tourist hotspot, instead attracting superyacht owners and luxury yacht charterers who rub shoulders with locals in the tavernas and cafes.

Learn the story of local war hero and legend Bouboulina, who has a museum and a statue in dedication in the harbour. After strolling around the town and visiting the stately chapels, hike along the trails or find your own stretch of uninhabited beach for sunbathing and excitement with the motorised water toys.

The hotels and restaurants on Spetses are mostly open in the summer months from May until October, and as a result chartering a superyacht gives you an added advantage at this location with all of your on board services and highly trained crew, there to personally serve you and your charter guests.

Take a walk via the intricate winding streets passing boutiques and the busy fish market. Along the way, admire the many cobbled lanes, barber shops and tavernas then when you reach the Old Port you’re sure to see the unique metal mermaid. There’s also an effigy of the Greek heroine Bouboulina who watches over the main port.

On the coast of Spetses are pebbled and sandy beaches, secluded coves and fantastic bays. These bays are ideal for all types of water sports, snorkelling and swimming. Starting around Easter, the island comes alive festivities and carry on until mid-October. In September, there’s a fantastic re-enactment or Armata of the island’s naval victory which took place in 1822. After this re-enactment, a sea battle takes place with the burning of an Ottoman warship, followed by a spectacular firework display.
