The designer himself has an honours degree in Industrial Design, specialising in yacht design, from the Coventry University. As part of his degree, he worked with an established English Naval Architect, where his enthusiasm for luxury yacht design developed. Adam comes from a long line of shipbuilders from the North-East of England, carrying on with this family tradition since the 1800s.
"I designed my first yacht in 1993 and my time working with John Munford encouraged the perfectionist in me and taught me the skills I needed to be a successful yacht designer." (Adam Lay)
