Danish Yachts in Focus
Danish Yachts was established in 1988, and the yacht builder was originally registered under the company name “Skagen Yachtyard.” Within a short span of time, the company became a leading source of high performance luxury yachts and superyachts. It later changed its corporate name to “Danish Yacht” in the year 2000.
This eminent yacht building company operates a modern production and refit facility in Skagen, which is in the northern region of Denmark. It occupies an area where the Katttegat and Skagerrak intersect. This sprawling 5,500-square metre facility is equipped with 3 sheltered work areas and features its own metal and joinery workshops.
Danish Yachts is a privately capitalised and managed company that specialises in full-range yacht construction, repair and maintenance and refit projects. It maintains business with individual yacht owners, corporate clients and military and other government entities.
Danish Yachts was a recipient of the International Star Diamond Award, a commendation for excellence that is given by American Academy. Additionally, the company was also given recognition for its “Highest Technical Achievement” during the Annual Showboat Awards for the Ranger, a J-Class superyacht that was built by Danish Yachts. This major milestone was achieved a year after its formal launch.

Notable Projects of Danish Yachts
One of the high profile projects of Danish Yachts are the refit of Challenge 67, the long distance yacht that brought Mike Golding around the globe during the British Steel Challenge. The refit project involved extensive work that converted this luxury motoryacht into an elegant and fast cruiser. This refit project was completed and complied with MCA codes relevant to regular ocean sailing work. This requirement entailed the integration of extra bulkheads that are watertight. The refit project has also involved an added carbon rig that bears a full suite of sails, a new set of hydraulic system, a new twin engine and its requisite systems and power generator. This newly refurbished Challenge 67 was also outfitted with a high performance bow thruster.
Another high profile project by Danish Yachts is the motor yacht Shooting Star, the first superyacht under the aerocruiser-38 II class that was built in the company’s Skagen shipyard. This high performance motoryacht is made out of carbon fibre and can reach a top speed of over 45 knots.
