A gulet is a romantic and traditional sailing boat style which originates from the south-western coast of Turkey and is now also commonly available for holiday rental throughout Greece, Croatia and the rest of the eastern Mediterranean. A Gulet typically has two mast and is constructed of local wood. Gulet (or Gullet) is now used to describe this style of sailing yacht which ranges from 14 to 35 metres in length and is popular for cost effective for tourist yacht charters. Although many Gulets are older and classical in style there has also been some recent launches which are luxury modern interpretations of the wooded and romantic traditional style. The Gulet yacht is often more of a theme as many yachts are not particularly nimble at sailing and could be considered motor sailors as engines are often uses, although some yachts have been especially designed to sail well. The local Turkish pronunciation for this type of yacht is gu'let and the word has heritage in the French word goélette, which means "schooner" - a two masted traditional and often classic sailing yacht where the aft mast is taller than the fore one. In turn this French word may be a diminutive form of the word with a Celtic origin goéland, which means "gull". Gulet can also be spelt with two ls - as in Gullet charter - although the difference in spelling has no bearing on the meaning of the word or the type of private Gulet charter vacation. Each Gullet cruise below will offer different charter terms and will have specific offering for charter, so please contact us or book a yacht to find out the details for the individual yachts.
