The transformation of the historical 100 m motor yacht Angara (ex Aviso) into a luxury charter yacht has stared on the 29th April 2011. This was the official starting date of Design works to return this impressive yacht her “old splendour”. Caserta entrepreneur Antonio Crispino was the prime mover, together with important russian businessmen, of this challenge, and put Navirex of Mr. Mario Grasso and Mr. Francesco Rogantin Studio in charge of the Naval Architecture and Engineering project, coordinated by Project Manager Mr. Fausto Corradini.
Architects involved for interior design will be directed by the Owner himself. The Ship was designed in 1938, and came into service in 1940 as headquarter vessel of the German submarines fleet commander of the Third Reich Navy. The Ship was under the command of gross-admiral Doenitz, inventor of “wolfpack” tactic of U-Boote during the world war II. The Ship was also used as government Yacht of Germany, and she hosted Hitler, Goering, Himmler, and other nazi bosses, shown by many old pictures.
On 1946 the Ship was commandeered by the Soviet Union, and used as Government Yacht by Stalin, Kruscev, Breznev, Gagarin and other soviet regime personages. Fallen into disuse after the fall of Berlin wall, she was abandoned up to 2007 when Mr. Crispino bought her from Russian Navy.
Actually, Angara (ex Aviso Hela) superyacht is moored in Sevastopol, in Crimea, where, before disposal, she had several renovation works on steel sheets and hull structures, until the purchase by the italian businessman. Scope of the refit project is the transformation into Yacht for Charter and Private use, with ten Suites aimed to important personages of our times.
The propulsion plant of the motor yacht Angara (ex Aviso Hela) will be completely renewed, with the employment of a diesel-electric configuration with shaft lines and controllable pitch propellers. With this solution, the maximum speed achieved will be ab. 20 kn.
Cruise speed will be 15 kn and, at economical speed of 12 kn, range will be 5000 nm. She will host 12 paying guests with a crew of 20, and will be provided with the newest systems from modern technology in terms of navigation, stabilization system at anchor, automation, entertainment and communication equipment.
Exterior design of the yacht Angara will have small changes compared to original shape, but interiors will be completely renewed, and in particular a huge salon 25 m x 10 m with big stairs and lift will be designed. Each Suite will be distinguished from the others in such a way as for M/Y Christina and Carlton Hotel in Cannes.
