Yesterday, December 17, 2015 saw Hodgdon Yachts, the division of Hodgdon that specializes in custom sail and power yacht construction, announce that the twelfth annual Shipyard Cup and the inaugural Hodgdon Boat Owner’s Rendezvous will take place from August 26 to 28 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. The combination event will mark the celebrations of the company’s 200th anniversary. Hodgdon represents the oldest boatbuilding company in the USA.
The Shipyard Cup is a Superyacht regatta in the Corinthian spirit, open to vessels over 21m (70’) in length. The event, which annually brings big boat racing to Maine’s coast, focuses on fun, safety, as well as a laid back environment. “We look forward to welcoming both returning and new owners to the Shipyard Cup, one of the most relaxed Superyacht regattas on the circuit and to the spectacular coast of Maine,” commented Ed Roberts, Global Director of Sales & Marketing of Hodgdon.
The Hodgdon Boat Owner’s Rendezvous will celebrate boats that have been constructed by the company over the past two centuries. “Turning 200 years old is something that we’re very proud of,” said Timothy Hodgdon, President of Hodgdon Yachts. “The fleet of boats that we’ve built ranges from the Supermaxi Comanche to the arctic exploration schooner Bowdoin, to Superyachts, military vessels, limousine tenders, small pleasure boats, and lobster boats. We’re looking forward to getting as many of these together as possible and celebrating with their owners.”
