Unsurprisingly, mega yacht Project Azzam is drawing attention of the yachting enthusiasts and professionals all over the globe. The extremely confidential Project Azzam is a spectacular 180m motor yacht currently under construction at the prestigious shipyard Lurssen in Germany. Once launched, motor yacht Project Azzam will be the largest luxury yacht around the world, replacing the equally magnificent 162.5 metre Eclipse, a yacht built by Blohm + Voss in Germany.
Azzam has been photographed a few weeks ago, leaving her 170 m (558′) shed located in Bremen without her bow and moved to her new 220m shed, where her bow has been attached to the rest of her hull. There has been information released, that the massive 180m luxury yacht AZZAM project is due for completion towards the end of 2013, suggesting a fast construction process for such a large and important vessel.
Due to extreme confidentiality agreements, no official news have been releases regarding this important project, however some information was obtained by the media. One of the latest news is that Nauta Yachts are the company responsible for the exterior design of the 180m Project Azzam superyacht.
Mega Yacht Project Azzam is presumed to be designed to provide great performance, thanks to the large tunnels located at stern, which could well be associated with water-jets or gas turbines. Some believe that she is designed to achieve an impressive speed of 30 knots.
Additional information is that the 180m Azzam project will house a crew of about 50.
Poject Azzam superyacht will be the largest privately owned luxury yacht when launched, followed by the 162.5 metre mega yacht ECLIPSE, the 162 motor yacht DUBAI and Al Said yacht at 155 metres.
