The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) is organizing the 2011 Club Marine Australian Marine Industry Export Awards again this year. Application numbers were impressive this year especially given the challenging times facing exporters.
Applications for the 2011 Awards closed on Friday 6 May and show an impressive line of a broad range of Australian Marine Exporters including; Aqualuma Marine Lighting, Ark Corporation, Azzura Marine, Britton Marine (Aust) Pty Ltd, Glowfast Marine, GME, Marine Tech Industries Australia, Marine Tuft Australia, McConaghy Boats, MultiPanel Pty Ltd, Palm Plastics, P & W Marine Engineers Pty Ltd, Ronstan International, Sealite, Seawind Catamarans, SOS Marine, Steber International and Stress Free Marine.
These Awards provide a platform for recognition of Australia’s significant position when it comes to marine export companies who showcase innovation, quality and excellence. With the high Australian dollar, high costs of manufacturing and a downturn in the global market innovation is one of the biggest competitive advantages Australian businesses have.
2011 Award categories are; ‘Most Innovative Marine Industry product or service’, ‘Marine Industry Export Champion’, ‘Marine Industry Young Achiever’, ‘Best Marine Industry Export Performance’ (small, medium and large) and ‘Best Marine Industry Export Marketing Strategy’. The aggregate scores from each company for these individual categories are added together to determine the ‘2011 Marine Industry Exporter of the Year’.
Applicants in the running for ‘2011 Australian Marine Industry Exporter of the Year’ include; Aqualuma Marine Lighting, Glowfast Marine, GME, McConaghy Boats, Ronstan International, P&W Marine Engineers Pty Ltd, Sealite and Steber International.
Judging of the Awards was completed during Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show by the high calibre judging panel comprising of Barry Jenkins – a well known marine industry personality, Iain Murray – CEO of the Australian Export Institute, John Savage – J.J.Savage & Sons, Ken Evans – previously Mercury Marine and currently working in the industry as a consultant and Peter Ironmonger a senior representative from Austrade who has considerable experience and understanding of the marine sector.
The Award Winners and Highly Commended Awards will be presented at the 2011 Club Marine Australian Marine Industry Export Awards function hosted by AIMEX on Thursday 28 July 2011 at Bayside Terrace, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre during Sydney International Boat Show. This event is the annual networking event for AIMEX members and is always an event high on the industry agenda.
