The amazing 67m super yacht Hetairos was first to cross the finishing line in the British Virgin Islands to complete the Transatlantic race that started in Tenerife early last week. The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) has been finishing its new Clubhouse in Virgin Gorda just in time to welcome the competitors once they cross the finishing line.
Hetairos (ex project Panamax) superyacht built by the Baltic Yachts crossed the finish line off the island of Virgin Gorda with a crossing time of 8 days, 10 hours, 58 minutes and 30 seconds at an average speed of 15.5 knots.
The luxury yacht Hetairos was co-designed by Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design and Dykstra Partners. Reichel/Pugh’s responsibility was for the hull and appendages surface geometries and the sail plan. The Hetairos lines are the result of a tank testing and extensive CFD program carried out by Reichel/Pugh.
The Hetairos yacht is a mixture of the classic looks of the early 19th century pilot cutters with a modern underbody and ultra-modern composite construction techniques. She has an all up lightship displacement of 230 tons and a lifting keel with a down draft of 9m. Composite Engineering is by Gurit and the beautiful interior design by Rhoades Young Ltd.
