Running from September 26 to 30 and taking place exclusively in Barcelona‘s Port Vell, the International Boat Show of Barcelona has begun a road show to meet businesses, nautical sports facilities as well as enthusiasts in the autonomous communities with the biggest nautical markets in Spain. The goal is to introduce the show’s new model firsthand.
The first encounter has been held recently in the Comunidad Valenciana, specifically in Denia, and will continue in other towns of Galicia, Catalonia, Madrid, the Balearic Islands and Andalusia. With these meetings, the show held in collaboration with the Asociación Nacional de Empresas Náuticas, ANEN, wishes to strengthen communication with the main players in field of nautical sports and recreation all around the country.
The Director of the Boat Show, Jordi Freixas, is convinced the new format will bring the event close to the city and improve visitors’ experience: “Barcelona and the sea form an indivisible pair, a strong framework that we are sure will contribute to attracting new visitors to the show. Being able to try out boats on the open sea with Barcelona’s climate in September is a big incentive to nautical enthusiasts”.
Apart from these meetings with the sector’s leading companies, during July and August, the show has organised a promotional campaign in the country’s busiest yacht clubs and sports marinas with the aim of revealing the show’s new format and attracting trade visitors, foreign residents and enthusiasts. Furthermore, Fira de Barcelona’s international delegations, with representation in 32 countries, have already started a full-on campaign to attract visitors, especially in emerging markets, such as Russia.
For the Director of ANEN, Alejandro Landaluce, “these meetings held between the Barcelona Boat Show and different players in the nautical sector are essential for the organisers to explain firsthand the opportunities the new model offers the market and, the aim of which is to contribute to boosting the business and activity of nautical sports and recreation as a catalyst of the Spanish economy”.
A new model: the sea as epicentre
The Barcelona Boat Show is also bringing forward its dates to the 26th to 30th September, and concentrating all exhibits in Port Vell. This privileged part of the city will house the on-water show, with boats from 8 metres in length- and the on-land exhibition featuring all types of nautical products and services: from inflatables, power boats, jet skis, electronics and engines to paints, sails, trailers, fishing articles, charters and sports marinas.
In addition to the exhibits, the show is also hosting leisure, sports and cultural activities for the whole family with the aim of promoting nautical pursuits. “During the five-day show, we want the whole city to breathe the excitement and atmosphere of the sea”, concludes Freixas.
