Day 1 of the 24th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show saw a higher number of visitors than the last year, bringing optimism to exhibitors as well as organisers of this popular show for the next three days.
Clear skies and mild weather drew the crowds, plus the allure of 120 boats on the marina, and hundreds more in pavilions and throughout the Village – 325 exhibitors in total over 62,120m² of exhibition space – added to that a jam-packed entertainment program.
Total through the gates on Thursday 24 May was 8,233 – up 1,100 on last year.
“This is heartening,” says Phil Shaw. “Obviously, the public has responded to a concerted marketing and media campaign which blitzed national and local, trade and consumer media. We are working hard for exhibitors to deliver a vibrant event.”
“We had a great day. Numbers were definitely up and there were good quality buyers through our display,” says Brett Thurley, Pacific Motor Yachts.
From 6am to 9am this morning, Seven’s Sunrise broadcast live from the boat show, and despite persistent showers, covered many of the event’s highlights including Jet Lev Jetpack Adventures and Jet Surf demos, several of the marina exhibitors and rower, Andrew Abrahams who is undertaking a World Record attempt of 1 Million Meter Row.
Gold Coast girl and seasoned singer and performer, Ricki-Lee Coulter rocked out the crowds who turned out to watch the OB and cheer her on.
The breeze has blown away the dark clouds and skies appear to be clearing, with sun back on the forecast.
