IGY’s Marina Cabo San Lucas has been honoured with the The Yacht Harbour Association’s GJW Insurance-sponsored 2013 International Marina Of The Year Award, a prize received by Gold Anchor accredited members of The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) only. Featuring 5 gold anchors from TYHA, Marina Cabo San Lucas earned its accolades through receiving recommendations from its customers due to its highly trained staff, immaculate facilities, as well as a reformed price point. Winning the spot of runner-up for the award is IGY’s Yacht Club at Isle de Sol, also a 5 Gold Anchor luxury yacht marina.
Nominations are open to any Gold Anchor rated marina, but are made exclusively by customers. Having already completed a detailed assessment of each marina, TYHA invites customers of participating Gold Anchor marinas to submit their nominations for marina of the year. Marina management also participates in the award by circulating the nomination form to their customers. “We are honored to receive such praise from our very own customers, which would have never been realized were it not for The Yacht Harbour Association’s intensively selective program,” says Kenny Jones, EVP of Operations for IGY Marinas.
The number of berths in a marina is taken into consideration when counting nominations and they are calculated on a percentage of capacity. All nominations are reviewed by a panel of independent judges, who decide on the winner based solely on the customers’ feedback. Judges include a TYHA executive, a TYHA chairman or deputy, an RYA representative, a Marina World representative and Motor Boat and Yachting representative.
