The nominees 2013 Newport For New Products (NFNP) awards have been announced today, by the owners and producers of the Newport International Boat Show. This year’s initial list incorporates seven power board of 29 feet and under, ten powerboats of 30 feet and over, one sailboat of 29 feet and under, eight sailboats of 30 feet and over, as well as twelve new boating products.

Additionally, new boat and product applications will continue to be accepted through September 1, 2013. Judged by a team of marine-industry experts, awards will be given for the best entry in each size category with an overall ‘Best New Powerboat’, ‘Best New Sailboat’ and ‘Best New Boating Product’ also awarded. In addition, for the second year in a row, attendees present on opening day – Thursday, September 12 – will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite new boat through the ‘People’s Choice Award’. NFNP winners will be announced on Friday morning, September 13.
In its eighth season, and in partnership with leading national marine publications, NFNP is a highlight of the industry, helping to publicise what’s new and exciting for boaters. NFNP is open to domestic and foreign products launched after April 1, 2013 that will make their official boat show debut at Newport. Foreign boats and products that have been shown and sold outside the U.S. are still eligible. Industry experts judge products on the basis of innovation, value to the consumer, safety and aesthetics. Individuals who attend the show on Thursday, September 12, will receive a voting card upon entry and cards returned that evening will be tallied. The People’s Choice Award will be announced along with the other winners on Friday morning, September 13. One “People’s Choice” voter will be selected randomly and receive an Apple iPad and a $50 Apple Store credit.
“The Newport International Boat Show is the kick off to the Fall boat show season and is considered by manufactures as the perfect venue to introduce their new models to the boating community,” said Tom Delotto, director of Newport Exhibition Group. “A wealth of industry-leading boats and products have been introduced at our show over the years and, judging by the entries, this year will not disappoint. We are excited that show attendees will have the opportunity to see the latest and greatest at our Newport International Boat Show.”
Expected to draw tens of thousands to historic Newport, the Newport International Boat Show will take place September 12-15, 2013 on the Newport Waterfront along America’s Cup Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island. One of the largest in-water boat shows in the country, the event will host nearly 750 exhibitors from around the world with an exceptional assortment of boats of every type and style from 15 to 85 feet, and a wide variety of accessories, equipment, electronics, gear and services for boaters. Online tickets are available through the Newport International Boat Show website. Children under 12 are admitted free any day when accompanied by an adult. On Friday only, visitors with a valid Military or Newport County Resident ID receive half price admission.
