DAMEN Yachts has announced the upcoming launch of their latest superyacht support vessel, 55.5m/182ft POWER PLAY, which will be ready for delivery in summer 2018. She will be the sixth support vessel using the YS 5009 design and previous hulls in the series include motor yachts AXIS, AD-VANTAGE and SHADOW (ex.NEW FRONTIERS).
“It’s inspiring to see how a new generation of owners is driving this market,” commented Damen Product Director Mark Vermeulen. “It’s very dynamic, it’s not the conventional thinking about luxury yachting. Our clients have fantastic ideas for diving, aircraft, luxury toys and serious boats. They are planning adventures of a lifetime and even getting involved in underwater exploration, science, film-making or racing yacht events. As a shipbuilder, it’s exciting to be a part of making their ideas a reality.”
New enhancements have been added to support vessel POWER PLAY and her future owners can expect to enjoy a 50m/164ft Adventure Centre or Dive Centre in the stern, as well as more autonomy features for cruising using zero emissions through marine reserves.
Combining the features of a luxury yacht with a sturdy hull designed for expeditions, POWER PLAY is ideal both as support and as an autonomous vessel in her own right, bringing with her a full complement of water toys and the potential for a helipad. The 12-tonne deck crane and stern A-frame fittings allow for easy launch and retrieval of tenders and submersibles, presenting the owner with a number of possibilities. Guest recreational areas include a sundeck and the main deck lounge that acts as an observation area where guests can watch the changing scenery and take in sweeping views.
She accommodates up to six guests over three spacious suites and there is additional accommodation for four staff. The crew accommodation sleeps seven. M/Y POWER PLAY can reach a top speed of 20 knots and is likely to share the YS 5009 series range of 5,000 nautical miles.
