It is safe to say no one expected a global Coronavirus pandemic to take over the world in 2020. A year later, and with vaccines beginning to roll-out across the world, there is light on the horizon! One such piece of good news for tourism and for a luxury yacht charter in Greece is tourism minister Harry Theoharis recently announcing that the country is opening its borders to vaccinated travellers and those with negative PCR tests from May 14th.
“Tourists will be welcome if before travel they are either vaccinated, or have antibodies, or test negative.” the Minister explained.
This is an exciting development for Greece, especially with tourism being one of the country’s primary income providers. As such, the Minister also announced that – after the vulnerable and elderly – next in line for the vaccine will be hospitality and tourism workers.
Tourists are already making the most of the announcement, with hotel booking rates increasing drastically for the months of May and June. This is great news for charter guests wishing to safely explore the beautiful sights of Greece as well. During the pandemic, charter guests can book with confidence through CharterWorld as all the yachts we work with have efficient health and safety protocols in place since last year, and all contracts have robust postponement or cancellation clauses to protect your interests.
With this promising development, other countries with economies that rely on tourism will likely follow suit, including Turkey, Croatia, France, Spain and Italy. With our special measures in place to ensure safe and hassle-free charters from booking to disembarkation, now is a great time to start thinking about your next European charter!
