Victor International, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) as well as Boat International Media have once again put their forces together to present the second edition of the Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous, running from March 14 to 17, 2012 in the British Virgin Islands (BVI).
The highlight of the Caribbean season, this exclusive four-day event, for superyacht owners and their guests, celebrates the opening of the highly anticipated Yacht Club Costa Smeralda Virgin Gorda (YCCS VG), the premier superyacht marina base in the Caribbean. The clubhouse debuted this season, marking the official completion of the new yacht club and marina. Developed by Victor International to the highest standards of design and construction, YCCS VG is linked to the new Oil Nut Bay Luxury Resort Community and Beach Club, and Biras Creek, a Relais & Chateau property.
The Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous brings together the world’s yacht enthusiasts to take advantage of the best cruising waters in the Caribbean. A stellar fleet of 28 sailing and motor superyachts are in attendance to enjoy four days of racing, cruising, and fabulous parties and receptions. The privileged guests of this unique event are among the first to experience this magnificent Clubhouse at YCCS VG as well as enjoy the new Oil Nut Bay Beach Club.
With an idyllic location strategically positioned in the protected waters of the North Sound, Virgin Gorda – one of the safest, natural harbors in the Caribbean – YCCS VG is situated to take full advantage of the region’s renowned sailing waters. The superyacht racing portion of the event is organized by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the renowned yachting association known for running international top-class sporting and superyacht events.
New to the regatta for 2012 is the addition of a catamaran category. The race is now divided into three classes: performance, cruising and catamaran, with a fleet of the world’s fastest yachts competing to win the perpetual silver cup made by Garrard of London – the Boat International Media Trophy. Among those participating are the 49.7m sailing yacht Zefira, the 42m superyacht Hanuman – a sailing yacht of the year; last year’s regatta winner; the 34m Classic 1973 Burger motor yacht Chanticleer and M/Y Icon, among many others.
Set amidst lush landscapes, pristine beaches and protected anchorages, the new yacht club & marina features easy access to the best of what BVI has to offer. Echoing the YCCS tradition of excellence, YCCS VG offers exceptional amenities and hospitality services including an external bar, pool, boutique, gym, wine bar and a restaurant capable of hosting up to 150 guests.
The state-of-the-art Marina boasts 38 slips for yachts up to 100 meters length and 9 meters draft and features extensive on-board provisioning services, crew facilities and on-site customs clearance. Yacht owners and guests also have access to Biras Creek Resort facilities including fine dining, a spa, beach and sports activities.
Victor International, creator of Oil Nut Bay, a premier resort community set on a private peninsula on the eastern tip of Virgin Gorda, is an internationally-respected luxury real estate developer, based in the BVI and USA.
