Barracuda Yacht Design has been commissioned by the Turkish shipyard Mengi Yay Yachts to design two new 31m and 40m sailing yacht concepts with universal appeal. Both Mengi Yay superyachts boasts well-balanced and timeless hulls.
The 31m and 40m Mengi Yay yachts represent practical designs that can be constructed in a relatively uncomplicated and cost-conscious way. For example, the vessels feature symmetrical shape rooms – cabins that can be easily transformed from doubles to twins and back again. In addition, both designs share performance orientated attributes such as maximum waterline length hull forms, balanced rudders and deep bulb keels with variable draft centreboards.
Mengi Yay 31m
The 31m Mengi Yay superyacht concept is a great example of creating the illusion of space. The vessel provides lovely accommodation in the owner’s suite, in addition to three guest cabins, unusual for a yacht of this size. Moreover, to access the en-suite bathroom in the owner’s suite, a walk through to an open vanity area has been created, giving the impression the owner’s cabin is much larger than it actually is.
Mengi Yay 40m
The 40m Mengi Yay superyacht concept is an amazingly looking vessel, boasting plenty of usable space. The main feature of the design is a full-beam owner’s suite. It occupies the space typically reserved for a tender garage. The cabin features a patio-door access to a private terrace and swim platform.
The tender is stored beneath the foredeck and is deployed via a pole attached to the mast. Additional 1,5m deep storage for deck furniture and water toys can be found in lazarette lockers positioned underneath the terrace.
