Launched by Baltic Yachts on 2nd May, 2013, the beautiful Baltic 107 Custom luxury yacht INUKSHUK is being delivered to her Owner this week. INUKSHUK yacht was created for an experienced yachtsman who, in addition to the informal atmosphere to share with his family and friends, wanted a boat with an excellent performance. This is why the Owner, who also owns a current 82-foot yacht, chose German Frers to design his vessel and selected Adam Lay to design her interior: “With nature … not with glamour”.
“The owner wanted an interior that was inspired by nature and not glitzy. Natural looking finishes, exposed wood grain, texture and brightly coloured fabrics to balance the natural backdrop, and some stand-out pieces of artwork and lamps.” says Adam Lay.
The inspiration for the interior was a based on a particular lakeland area of North America, which remains unnamed in order to maintain the confidentiality of the owner. It’s a beautiful wilderness which has inspired many artists and where the owner spends a lot of his leisure time.
Adam Lay Studio really went the extra mile in their research, visiting arboretums to learn more about trees that are indigenous to this particular North American Lakeland region. They also researched the region’s native plants and shrubs. The woodwork featured aboard the 32m superyacht INUKSHUK is influenced by driftwood and by the silver greys found in the tree bark. The timber for the wall lamps was sourced specifically from the same lakeland region, and the finishes are influenced by hues and textures found in shoreline boulders.
The custom designed and made wall and table lights are exceptional, as is Inukshuk’s saloon furniture which takes its inspiration from a forest of trees and those shoreline granite boulders.
“Baltic Yachts have done the most amazing job of building what is quite a challenging interior, particularly in terms of the finishes.” said Lay
Georges Bourgoignie, Nigel Ingram from MCM and Mark von Drashek make-up the owner’s build team. Luxury sailing yacht INUKSHUK will be displayed at the 2013 Monaco Yacht Show, to be held from 25th to 28th September.
