Designed by Cor D. Rover, the 34m superyacht PILOT has hit the water at the Dutch shipyard Van der Valk. She is the first model of the custom series called Pilot boasting an elegant hull and modern, innovative design. She is a contemporary explorer-type vessel, with a high volume able to accommodate up to 8 guests and a crew of 6.
“The project has its origins in a design concept from our office which was aimed at creating the maximum real estate,” explains De Rover. “The client for this bespoke build, an experienced owner of multiple boats, asked to extend the length within this maximum-interior-space principle while taking the contemporary looks to an even higher level of sophistication.
Bringing together masculine proportions with plenty of curves, this tri-deck motor yacht features a self-contained pilothouse and raked bridge windows. Amongst the main design features are the air grills inspired by the automotive industry, creating a sporty and dynamic overall feel.
Large windows and a glass ‘eye’ on the bridge deck were among the challenges the yard had to face, seamlessly blending them into the black-painted surface and making it look like glass. Additional details of the yacht, such as the interiors are yet to be revealed.
