Italian refit and repair yard Lusben has announced the successful extensive refit of luxury yacht FAR FAR AWAY.
Originally delivered in 2012 with an L.O.A. of 36.7m/120.5ft, the 14-month refit saw an extension of the hull and superstructure to a total of 46.9m/153.10ft. To achieve this, an 8m/26ft section was inserted amidships, while both the stern and forward bulb were lengthened by 1.5m/5ft.
As a result, the guest accommodation has expanded in size, and there are four beautifully refurbished bathrooms awaiting guests.
Many more of the modifications were to areas guests rarely see, but provide an integral role in the overall comfort and efficiency of the journey: There is the addition of a cold room of 9m2/96.9ft2 as well as a laundry room of the same size, an increased capacity for storing freshwater (up to 5,000 litres) and diesel fuel (up to 9,000 litres), improving on the original fuel storage of 52,000 litres. As a result, M/Y FAR FAR AWAY certainly lives up to her name with an exhaustive cruising range of 8,000 nautical miles – the equivalent of three or more months at sea – without the need to visit port for provisions.
The changes to the midsection also meant that the electric and safety systems, sanitary water and diesel lines had to be completely reconstructed and reintegrated with the existing management system, along with the installation of a new watertight door.
For increased safety and stability at sea, the gyrocompasses have been replaced with one mechanical and one satellite version, a thermal imaging camera now provides night vision and new generators and thrusters have been added in the upgrade.
Superyacht FAR FAR AWAY has received certification for both private and commercial use, hosting up to 15 guests across 7 cabins for private use and a maximum of 12 guests across 6 cabins for luxury yacht charters, along with a crew of 8-9. The exterior hull and superstructure have been repainted to have her looking like new, ready for adventures across the world.
