News from Istanbul, Turkey about the launch of 39m sailing yacht LINNEA AURORA from the SES Yachts shipyard. The 39.4m (129’2″) Truly Classic 128 was designed by Hoek Naval Architects who were also responsible for the general arrangement, with Daniel Oestman selected by the owner to complete the interior design.

She is the fifth TC128 in the fleet and was commissioned by a European clients who was impressed by the iconic long overhangs, sweeping sheerline and elegant timber-clad deckhouses plus the excellent sailing performance and attention to detail. Built from aluminium, her main purpose will be as a family sailing yacht but with her speed and performance she will easily passage across the ocean and would be a great racing vessel.

Her versatile accommodation places a large owner’s suite aft with its own private deckhouse/navigation station. There are three guest cabins, two forward and one opposite the aft salon. The lower salon offers an unusually spacious guest living area for when the owner travels solo or with a full complement of guests. There is a sheltered dining area for 10 guests on the cockpit offering wonderful panoramic views.

The owner was first introduced to the design concept at the Monaco Yacht Show three years ago where he inspected sistership GRACE III. Having then chartered sistership ATALANTE he was sold on the TC128 vision and was looking for a 2.5-year build program. Hoek Design were able to accommodate the request with the owner visiting the project regularly.

Linnea Aurora represents a milestone for us as she’s the 90th launching since our company was founded 50 years ago. So, a multiple anniversary for SES Yachts and we could not have celebrated it better.”

As well as the yacht’s high-tech sail systems and innovative construction, she is the first TC128 to be fitted with an engine exhaust SCR unit to remove nitrogen oxide to meet the latest emissions regulations. A lithium battery package allows for nighttime ‘silent periods’ with no generator required and also a degree of sailing time in the same no-generator mode.
