The 1998-built luxury yacht LADY NORA (ex.COCOA BEAN) has received an impressive refit from Spanish yacht design studio BYD using 3D scanning technology.
The Mallorca-based naval architect was given the brief to redesign the guest cabins, crew areas and galley, and to change the air conditioning system to follow and fit into the new layout.
The lower deck crew areas were stripped back to the aluminium frames and hull plates before the 3D scanners were used to map out the space. The exactness of the interior shape and volume ensured that the space could be used more efficiently when installing the contemporary fixtures and fittings, creating functional and modern living spaces where natural and artificial lighting is given the attention it deserves. As a result, two new en-suite crew cabins were created using the space gains.
A crew of 8 will be accommodated over 7 cabins: 1 Captain’s cabin, 4 single cabins and 2 double cabins. Light Elegant Oak veneer cabinetry contrasts with the Amtico Nordix Oak with an antique wood effect on the mid-grey toned flooring. The crew mess now seats 10 people and has TVs, plus improved access to the laundry.
The pantry has become a much more functional space, and its new appearance replicates the dark accents of the saloon for a more flowing appearance between the two spaces. The galley meanwhile has had a layout change to increase efficiency for food preparation: The sinks have been moved farther from the induction hob and work surfaces are finished in brushed steel to handle heat and spillages.
For the guest accommodation area, the children’s cabin was refurbished with twin Pullman beds. The backrests of two sofas fold up to become to create two additional hanging bunks above the beds, storage was built into the walls and the desk chair stows securely inside to ensure that the space remains child-friendly even in choppy waters.
The guest cabins and en-suite bathrooms had the original dark finish dating back to 1998. All have been replaced with pale patterned fabrics to update the walls, blinds and headboards. White walls, warm LED lighting and warm beige carpets significantly lighten the interiors and emphasise the space within.
Lastly, updates to the ventilation have created a marked improvement in air quality onboard in certain areas of the vessel.
Luxury yacht LADY NORA will be relaunched for Summer 2022 in as-new condition.
