The International Yacht Forum in Hamburg was a great success in 2010 and 2011. This year’s third edition will be held in March 24, 2012 at the Chamber of Commerce in Hamburg.
“We did evaluate the feedback questionnaires from the last forum and optimised the program to meet the needs of the North European sailors”, states Volker Andreae, initiator of the event and chairman of the German Offshore Owners Association, which is hosting the event. “This year’s focus is on practical tips to make a racing team faster.”
Topics are the purpose and value of electronical devices on board, new international yacht design trends and fast sail designs that perfectly fit into the rating rule. World-famous Yacht Designers like Torsten Conradi, Jason Ker, John Corby, and Marc Mills will give a talk. Doyle Sails, one of the world’s largest sailmaking companies, will be represented by Chief Designer Greg Marie from the USA. Marie has designed the sails for the yachts Shockwave (IRC), Hugo Boss (Open60) and Sanya (VOR70). And Dobbs Davis – one of the world’s most experienced sailing sport journalists and presenter of the World Yacht Racing Forum in Estoril – will moderate the talks and discussions.
The German Sailing Association (Deutscher Segler Verband) also sees the benefit of the Forum’s program and again is the patron in 2012. At the same time of the Forum, a 2-day intensive workshop for Tacticians takes place, as part of the initiative „Go for Speed“. Both events are time and content aligned. Further supporters of the International Yacht Forum Hamburg are the yacht coating manufacturer Alexseal, the „boot Düsseldorf“, the printing shop Ernst Kabel Druck and Farmer´s Outdoor, food congenial to sailors.
