The 46-metre Feadship Yacht COMO underwent sea trials yesterday and was captured by one of our readers, Kees Torn at Hoek van Holland. Superyacht COMO (Feadship hull 688), launched in late January, was constructed for the experience yachtsman born in New Zealand, Neville Crichton.
Dubois Naval Architects are responsible for COMO yacht’s exterior design, based on the owner’s very specific ideas. COMO’s main feature is a very distinctive and innovative use of glass, where Feadship have placed the glass on top of the metal rather than set it into it. This creates a continuous glass surface and provides spectacular uninterrupted views from the owner’s stateroom and other areas on board.
The wheelhouse of the yacht is slightly recessed into the main deck structure, allowing for a huge outside deck, perfect for entertainment and relaxation. It is completely covered and surrounded by glass, which can be lowered or raised, depending on the owner’s requirements. The interior design by Redman Whiteley Dixon features dark timbers and a great attention to details. There is accommodation for four guests in two double guest staterooms, four guests in two twin staterooms as well as eight crew in two crew cabins for four, one captain’s cabin and one engineer’s cabin, accommodating two crew members each.
COMO superyacht by Feadship is powered by two Caterpillar C32 engines of 1417kW at 2300 rpm and features Quantum zero-speed stabilisers for additional comfort. The sea trials seem to have gone as expected, however more details are still to be released by the shipyard.
