Sparkman & Stephens has the pleasure of announcing that sailing yacht Nazenin V was awarded a Judges’ Special Commendation for a Sailing Yacht over 45 meters at the 2010 World Superyacht Awards at London’s Guildhall on May 22. The 52-meter ketch is a blend of traditional styling and contemporary elegance, designed by S&S in New York City and built by RMK Yachts in Tuzla, Turkey. She was awarded this special commendation for her “outstanding design, excellent execution, and meeting the owner’s requirements perfectly.” The owner, Mr. Rahmi Koç, was honored with a “Neptune” trophy and a bottle of champagne at the gala dinner, which was attended by over 500 industry professionals and yacht owners.
Superyacht Nazenin V has an exterior styling, engineering, and naval architecture completed by Sparkman & Stephens, while Redman, Whitely, Dixon of the UK created the graceful blond teak interior. Project Manager Paul Johnson, also brought years of experience and invaluable expertise to the project. The culmination of five years of design development, engineering, and construction has led to a world-class superyacht that exceeds the owner’s strict requirements for comfort, safety, performance and tasteful simplicity in every way. Special congratulations to RMK Yachts for their outstanding execution.
This ‘raised pilothouse’ is yacht design design number 2725 for the S&S team. She features a classic/contempory design that uses the traditional reverse stern and graceful lines.
Her interior is done by Redman Whitely Dixon (RWD) and features teak panelled interior along with sycamore inlays and brass accessories. A subtle nautical palette of colours are used for the fabrics.
Sailing yacht Nazenin V will feature aluminum construction- that being the hull and superstructure are built from this material-. The booms and spars on the mast are made of carbon fiber. The mast sails(sheets) will be operated via the in-boom furlers. Two automatic roller furlers will be operated at the push of buttons to the captain’s desire.
