Ghost Yachts is happy to announce that they are completing the development of the new motor yacht G180V. The 55 meter superyacht G180V is a 2010 concept which is constantly evolving into a high end platform fit for production. The Ghost G180V has been additionally developed in close partnership with top superyacht manufacturer Feadship who offered Ghost their technical expertise as well as naval architecture experience.
Although the original concept of the Ghost G180V superyacht was the foundation for the new yacht, the design underwent numerous changes to meet the vigorous Feadship standards for build quality, safety, and comfort. Despite the changes Stefano Carugno, head of design partner Gloss Design, managed to enhance the yacht’s mesmerizing appearance and its signature Ghost Yachts design language.
Both Ghost Yachts and Feadship wanted to preserve the unique characteristics of the original concept. Like the original, the G180V yacht is designed within the 500 Gross Tonnes limits. The low volume and, for a <500GT yacht, exceptionally large length overall of 55 meter give the yacht her sleek profile and athletic proportions. De Voogt‘s innovative Naval Architecture, the slender length to beam ratio and lightweight construction form the fundamentals for the yacht’s extraordinary performance. They turn the new Ghost into an all-round performer that easily travels at high speeds but, due to its high fuel efficiency, maintains the possibility for transatlantic cruising at moderate speeds in total comfort.
Luxury yacht G180V’s general arrangement has been completely redesigned to improve on-board logistics and appoint guest areas as efficient as possible. The signature interior is designed by Milan’s Alberto Vismara who managed to blend the key elements of the exterior styling seamlessly into to interior. The interior emphasises the clean and uncluttered character of the yacht and translates this into a casual chique atmosphere that’s perfectly suitable for easy living.
Ghost Yachts ultimate goal for the G180V yacht is to provide customers with a thrilling alternative in the 500 Gross Tonnes class. The yacht successfully bridges the gap between a displacement yacht and a planing or semi displacement performance yacht. She proves that both characteristics can be merged into an innovative and exciting concept.
“The Ghost G180V has all the right ingredients to secure its special place on the superyacht market,” says Björn Moonen of Ghost Yachts. “It has a compelling shape that always captures the attention of observers and an equally impressive set of specifications. The innovative ideas and the unique shape did however result in a complex and intricate package.” Moonen continues.
“We needed to translate the ideas into a build-able platform. A big task that required a lot of technology, skill and most of all experience. Since we also wanted to make no compromise in terms of build quality, it was quite obvious that Feadship was the builder to turn to. Besides their world renowned qualities, the company also displayed a relentless drive for innovation which made us feel right at home.”
“Feadship has its own in-house design department, and at the same time we have a long history of working with other top exterior designers,” says Ronno Schouten, Feadship’s Head of Design. “Every Feadship is a custom superyacht so when owners wish to bring a designer into the team we welcome them and work together with them. Obviously, these outside designs must meet the premium technical standards that Feadship applies to all its builds, which makes it important that we are involved at an early stage. The Ghost Yachts project is an impressive design in its own right and a fine example of the benefits of working with other innovative thinkers.”
The Ghost G180V yacht’s technical data and specifications are expected to be ready on time for the 2012 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
