Echo Yachts have announced the launch of 56m (183’8″) superyacht CHARLEY 2 as the largest motor catamaran ever built in Australia and a unique adventure/support yacht with naval architecture from One2Three Naval Architects who is packed with superior features.
Mark Stothard, Director of Echo Marine Group commented, “a very special day for the teams at Echo Yachts and One2Three Naval Architects seeing the fruits of our combined efforts in the launch of Charley 2. She sits perfectly on the design waterline and is one of the most complete vessels I have seen at launch. A few weeks of commissioning and trails, then she will be off on her first adventure!”.
Her design and construction were completed within only three years and the high standard of finish is thanks to the world class skills and expertise of the design and build team involved.
Built for adventure she is equipped with a large touch & go helicopter pad, dive store, decompression chamber and specialist sonar equipment on the custom 12m catamaran tender. She also carries a 6.8m RIB, 2 additional RIB tenders, 1 Williams turbo jet, 2 Pioneer Multi landing craft and 3 Yamaha wave runners.
Explorer yacht CHARLEY 2’s 1041 GT volume provides extremely spacious interiors and accommodation, outdoor entertaining areas and significant water-toy carrying capacity. There are 18 guest berths and 19 for crew which might include specialist adventure guides or dive masters.
Performance comes from 2 x Caterpillar C32 which deliver top speeds of 17 knots and a range of 2,380 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots. She also features Solar Panels which provides a third of the yacht’s energy demand during full daylight.
Her sea trials begin in September with delivery expected shortly after. Bon voyage CHARLEY 2!
