Heesen is thrilled to announce that on May 3, 2014 the ground-breaking 65m Fast Displacement yacht Galactica Star won the coveted Neptune Trophy in the category ‘Semi-displacement or Planing Three-deck motor yacht of 45-metre and above‘ at the prominent World Superyacht Awards, the Oscars of the superyacht industry.
This prestigious event, making its debut in the Netherlands, was held at the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam where the industry leaders, designers, and superyacht owners gathered to celebrate the finest yachts of the year.
Motor yacht Galactica Star was chosen by the judges, who are all super yacht owners, as winner in this very competitive category for her unique ability to operate both in the displacement and semi-displacement modes.
Mark Cavendish, Sales and Marketing Director at Heesen Yachts, comments: “At Heesen we are very proud of this important recognition. First of all I would like to thank the Owners of Galactica Star: Without their vision and quest for technical innovation none of this would have been possible; and of course van Oossanen Naval Architects who devised the revolutionary Fast Displacement Hull Form that allows Galactica Star to be 30% more efficient than any other displacement hull of her size; Frank Laupman, who designed the beautiful exterior lines; Bannenberg and Rowell for the rich and elegant interior; and last but not least all the women and men at Heesen shipyard who worked so strenuously to deliver a vessel that is close to perfection. This Neptune trophy is for you all!”
