Launched by the respected Italian builder Benetti at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, the ‘Benetti Design Innovation Project‘ represents the first partnership between the yard and the Italian design firm of Luca Dini. One of the two new designs presented for this project is the 72m Luca Dini Superyacht concept described below, in addition to the 55m Luca Dini yacht with more details here.
Luca Dini believes the opportunity has come at the right time: Benetti‘s history is 140 years long and as a designer it is not so easy to approach it if one doesn’t have a suitable experience baggage to rely upon. So, after a 20-year career and more or less 60 boats launched, Luca Dini had the chance to approach these projects with the maximum respect towards Benetti and to the great relevance this Shipyard earned in the yacht world; Dini knew he could bring in something new that could find its space in the Benetti tradition and at the same time to be projected to the future. He thinks he was on the same wavelength with them and their Innovation concept.
72m Luca Dini Yacht Concept for Benetti
In regard to the 72m Luca Dini yacht project, the studio decided to choose, as a starting point, a typical stylistic motif of the Benetti tradition that is the external pillar supporting the flying bridges. Around this detail, that was also underlined by a different color, the studio has developed the whole boat featuring innovative technical/stylistic solutions and design. As an example the stern encompasses two decks, and a big aluminium venetian blind, electrically operated, allows to close the rear end of the stern cockpit to enhance its privacy when needed, for instance when the boat is docked stern-on.
Another distinguishing characteristic of the 72m Luca Dini megayacht concept is the wide glass area on the side that stretches vertically drawing inspiration from skyscrapers and for which has been foreseen the use of thermal-insulated glass and hidden balconies that come out (electrically operated as well) from the glass area on the side itself.
The overall look of the 72m Luca Dini yacht project is powerful and sporty, and an amazing balance between curvy lines, sharp edges and angles has been achieved.
