Developed in 2013, the impressive 74-metre explorer yacht AUSTIN design concept has been beautifully penned by Fuhrmann & Ochoa Hamburg/Miami. Luxury motor yacht AUSTIN boasts stylish and elegant interiors, inspired by nature and designed by Studio Haak from Munich, Germany.
Kathrin Haak of Studio Haak says: “When imagining a yacht, it is clear that yachts are always strongly associated with nature.” The interior of superyacht Austin is a perfect example of nature’s colours and textures: shades of blue and pine-green are inspired by water, wind, clouds and the countryside. Flowing curtains and fabrics are evocative of nature’s flow and create a warm and pleasant atmosphere. In this way Studio Haak unified the yacht’s interior with nature’s exterior, a perfect symbiosis for feeling at ease.
Much consideration went into choosing the diverse range of materials used for the Austin superyacht concept. Each colour series reflects and is influenced by the materials and layout used for the room. Dark and calming tones are used as the foundation for all main rooms. Blue and gold tones are highlighted in adjoining rooms in a way that harmoniously links room to room.
The main salon can be used for a variety of purposes, as it is divided into several sections. The fireplace with integrated library and cinema is an area for relaxation. Movable furniture and interior features mean that the user can alter the size of library and cinema according to individual taste and space requirements.
Adjoining the fireplace is the bar, a perfect meeting space for private and business guests. The library on the starboard side is a further place of relaxation, with a couch creating a perfectly private atmosphere. The room’s centrepoint is a rotating floor with seats and revolving walls. The seats can be used for business meetings or for lounging as the chairs can be adjusted into a narrow or expanded set-up. The rotating floor also incorporates practical shelving units and a mini-bar.
There are also storage compartments for multi-media accessories for meetings, presentations and video conferences. Topping off the design, a unique string curtain lampshade has been integrated over the round table, complementing the string curtain surrounding the main bed. Sideboards which match the facade have been integrated along the window panes, providing ample storage space.
The main section of the owner’s suite comprises a spacious and well-lit, open plan lounge, ideal for receiving private and business guests. The multi-use floorplan with integrated gym, office and spa, optimally unifies private and business requirements. The heart of the deck is in the bow – where the lavish bedroom suite has a custom-made bed as the room’s centre piece.
The chairs and table for the rotating floor in the main salon were designed especially for the Austin yacht concept. The couches are upholstered in exclusive cream-white and gold-bronze snake skin (leather from the House of Edelmann).
The table and chairs can be used for meetings or lounging due to the adjustable height and width. The rotating floor’s rear wall, made of flame birch with a shimmering mother of pearl effect, reinforces the room’s luxurious character. The floor area around the rotating floor are elegantly designed with leather and natural stone in shades of light brown and grey. Materials such as quilted black leather in the furniture give a typical, sophisticated drawing room look. The rotating floor gives the guests a 360° view to the outside and maximum flexibility.
People feel very relaxed when they go out into nature and shades of green are proven to be particularly relaxing. For this reason, a nature theme has been applied in the Spa area. Wall panels feature backlighting with images of fern and grasses. The wall unit for the massage area resembles a waterfall and has a dimmer switch. It can be made of glass or soft curtain drapes, according to client preference.
The logo and name of a yacht are as important as the build and design. The word „Austin” denotes grandiose excellence and is associated with athletic attributes. The logo’s shape is based on the distinguishing features of the yacht exterior, and also symbolises dynamism and elegance. This effect is reinforced by the black, structured and backlit background, which is reminiscent of the ocean depths.
