The Netherlands-based company, Newthex, has received the order from Echo Yachts in Henderson, Australia for the delivery of a watertight sliding door on their breath-taking 84-metre trimaran yacht project. Once completed, the 84m Echo aluminium mega yacht will represent the longest tri-hulled yacht ever constructed and the largest built in Australia. Entirely designed by Sam Sorgiovanni, with naval architecture by One2three Naval Architects, this striking vessel boasts an impressive 20-metre beam, allowing for expansive interior spaces.
Newthex is supplier of high quality custom made doors, hatches and elevators. These doors go from weathertight and watertight hinged doors to shell en transom doors and these are already installed on many famous superyachts.
The purchase order for the watertight sliding door was purchase order nr 1 for this project. The very successful Polder door is an aluminum electrically operated watertight sliding door which is used below the waterline in the bulkheads, as it can withstand a water pressure of 7 mwc. The Polder door is the only watertight sliding door on the market which is specifically developed for yachts. The door has a low weight and is very compact because of which it is easy to install on the yachts. With a so called sill plate the doorstep is flush with the floor. the monitoring of the status of the door is done by way of a panel in the wheelhouse.
