The 2013 Future Interior Design Challenge by AkzoNobel‘s Awlgrip is now open for submissions for entry. The design challenge is an innovative competition aimed at the new and aspiring luxury superyacht interior designers.
As with the inaugural competition in 2012, Awlgrip is again challenging interior designers to show how innovative design can utilise new materials to produce interiors that can be more stylish, increasingly ergonomic and easier to build than ever before. This year, due to increasing demand and interest the competition has been opened to a wider audience.
The Competition
For 2013, the competition is not only for 2nd and 3rd year design students and those who have graduated in the past 12 months, it is now also open to those who have recently started in Interior Design positions (within the past 24 months).
As in 2012, the winning designer will receive a £5,000 cash prize as well as the chance to have the winning design shown at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show and the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show during what is a special time for Awlgrip, celebrating the 40th anniversary year.
The Challenge
The challenge again is to produce a design that the judges will conclude is the best looking, most ergonomic, easiest to build and features the most innovative use of the new Awlgrip products. This can be as straightforward as a storage or vanity unit, something more technically challenging such as a crew workspace, or even a solution for where the aesthetic ideal meets engineering constraints such as a bridge console.
How to Enter
For any last minute entries that wish to declare themselves can do so by emailing AwlgripChallenge@akzonobel.com. Following a declaration of interest, entrants will receive a briefing that will outline the Challenge in detail, provide guidance on the judging criteria and information on materials and resources available to the entrants.
