Set to take place from August 8 to 11, this year’s edition of the Shipyard Cup is shaping up to be the best ever in the decade as well as history of this landmark event.
This year, the organisers have added an extra day of events and they are also anticipating a brand new participant, the 180-foot sailing yacht MARIE, a black-hulled beauty, built in 2010 by the Vitters Shipyard. MARIE combines a classic profile with a modern underwater hull.
In addition, the race will be hosting the Hodgdon-built, hometown favorite and last year’s winner, superyacht SCHEHERAZADE.
The event has already been given the Editor’s Choice Award by the staff at Showboats International.
The organisers are also very excited about the list of loyal sponsors who help make the Shipyard Cup such a special event. This year the event is welcoming at least two new sponsors, US Trust and Pantaneus Insurance.
As always, there will be the great sailing, beautiful vistas and lobsters that Maine is famous for, not to mention the hospitality, cocktail parties and Corinthian spirit racing that makes a great warm-up for the Newport Bucket.
