After amazing four days of fun on and off the waters of the lovely French yacht charter destination – Côte d’Azur, superyacht owners met at the Yacht Club de Monaco yesterday morning, on June 23, 2013, to say their goodbyes as the twenty-fourth edition of The Rendezvous came to an end.
Guests have enjoyed beautiful weather and fabulous social events in the Principality. The sun was shining for the cruise in company to St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. The yachts dropped anchor at the beautiful Paloma Beach, built in the post-war years and a favourite of some of Hollywood’s greatest names, with spectacular views over Beaulieu and Cap d’Ail.
Rendezvous guests were joined by the greatest names in superyacht design at the Monaco Opera House for the fourth annual ShowBoats Design Awards. Opening the ceremony was the world-renowned soprano Mari Moriya, who performed two arias to a rapt audience in the famous Salle Garnier.
There was an early wake up call for the superyacht chefs participating in the Rendezvous Superyacht Chefs Competition, who were set the task of creating two dishes using a basket of ingredients which included Wakaya Perfection 100% Organic Ginger Powder. A presentation on board host yacht Karia by David Gilmour, owner of Wakaya Perfection and founder of Fiji Water, proved to be very popular with Rendezvous guests.
The final evening of the social programme did not disappoint, with guests from the attending yachts enjoying a glittering evening at Key Largo for the Diamonds & White Rendezvous Party. Sundown cocktails were served on the helipad overlooking at Cap d’Ail, and after dinner guests dazzled on the dance floor into the early hours.
On Sunday, all participants came together for a Farewell Brunch at the Yacht Club De Monaco where the winners of the various Rendezvous competitions were announced, as well as the recipient of the coveted Art de Live La Belle Classe; a special prize awarded by the Yacht Club de Monaco for good conduct and etiquette amongst yacht owners and their crew. This year the prize was bestowed open the owners of superyacht Only Now.
The organisers of The Rendezvous in Monaco look forward to returning to the Principality in June 2014, when the spectacular new Yacht Club de Monaco club house designed by architect Sir Norman Foster will be ready to welcome yachts owners for another fun-filled Rendezvous.
