Sailing Yacht Belle Aventure has been awarded the First Place in the Professionally Restored Sailboat category, during the 2010 Concours d’Elegance at the 19th Annual Wooden Boat Show hosted by Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. The even took place from 25th to 27th June 2010 and according to Concours d’Elegance judges, the quality of this year’s entrants was among the best they had ever seen.

Belle Aventure sailing yacht, an 85’ (94’ LOA) classic Fife built in 1929, has spent much of the summer of 2010 cruising the inviting waters along the New England Coast and enjoying the craftsmanship of her two-year refit and refastening restoration work at Boothbay Harbor Shipyard in Maine.

The yard’s specialization in the refit and restoration of boats and yachts of all kinds—and certainly many of notable name and lineage—is evident in its recent projects registry, one demonstrating Boothbay Harbor Shipyard’s versatility and comprehensive range of marine-related repairs and service.

While at Boothbay Harbor Shipyard, Belle Aventure SY underwent mechanical, electrical, interior joinery and sail and rigging work. An engine bed for the new engine was built along with cabin soles in all three rebuilt heads; all new electrical wiring and distribution enables the latest technologies; mechanical systems were updated; interior joinery—woodwork and cabinetry—in the cabins was refinished; planks were refastened with 5,000 custom made fastenings; and renowned sailmaker, Nat Wilson, made three new jibs, a mizzen and the mainsail.

Other notable vessels currently and recently at the yard include Tall Ship Bounty (120’), Schooner Ernestina (156’), Sailing Vessel Alera (43’) and Tugboat Lucinda Smith.
