The yachts of Claasen Shipyards have been participating in the Superyacht Cup, running in the fantastic Spain yacht charter destination – Palma de Mallorca, for many years. For this year’s edition, which will run from 18 to 21 June, Claasen Shipyards is an official ‘industry partner’. The yard is sponsoring a range of activities surrounding the event, which will be underlined by the participation of various beautiful Claasen yachts.
The Superyacht Cup offers the ideal combination of a professionally organised sailing regatta and a relaxed, informal social programme for participants, supporters and visitors alike. The first Superyacht Cup was organised in 1996, making it the longest running sailing event in Europe for prestigious sailyachts from around the world. The Cup is extremely popular among owners and their friends, captains and crew who come to Palma to attend the annual four-day regatta.
A total of 21 yachts have already registered to participate in the 2014 event. A quarter of these yachts were partly or entirely built by Claasen Shipyards, marking another strong representation of the yard in this year’s races. At the Superyacht Cup 2013, the Claasen-built Truly Classic 78 sailing yacht Heartbeat and Truly Classic 90 charter yacht Atalante came in first and second in the overall rankings, and the J-class superyacht Lionheart achieved second place overall in her segment. The yard is looking forward to achieving some equally impressive results this year.
Meanwhile, the craftsmen at Claasen Shipyards hope that the new yachts currently under construction will also feature in future Superyacht Cup events in Palma. This includes a Truly Classic 126 yacht, a Truly Classic 90-03 yacht and a 45-metre J-class, all of which have been optimised for their future regatta performances.
Claasen Shipyards wishes the owners and crews of the participating yachts the best of luck during the upcoming edition of the Superyacht Cup in Palma.
