Bookings for the 2015 Phuket International Boat Show are now open. The 12th edition – PIMEX 2015 will be held at the Royal Phuket Marina – the home of Asia’s favourite Boat Show since 2007 – from 8th to 11th January 2015.
As the 2014 edition showed, the show is well attended by luxury brands and visitors keen to buy. Over 3,800 individuals were involved and over USD$20 million of product was sold or completed as a result of many more leads followed up after the show.
Local expat and high-net-worth prospective buyers made up the majority of visitors with 49 nationalities represented in 2014. Russians, Europeans and Thais were strongly represented.
Impressive Display In The Water
All the leading brands have requested space in the in-water display as well as some debut appearances in Thailand. Max Marine Asia representing Sunseeker, Multihull Solutions who recorded the first sale on day one in 2014 and Gulf Craft/Majesty have confirmed their participation with two Thai debuts from Majesty including the motor yacht Majesty 105. Multihull Solutions will be showing the Summerland 40 and the Hella 44 Catamarans for the first time. Simpson Marine will introduce their new brand in Thailand, Monte Carlo Yachts, and the dock bookings are already in place.
The in water display looks set to break records with exciting new products overlooked by the boardwalk and Exhibition Hall.
Improvements to Royal Phuket Marina
Since the last show the Marine Department of Thailand have commenced a six month project to dredge the Koh Kaew canal which will give minimum depth access of 2m at LAT allowing deeper draft and larger vessels to take part. Dredging is scheduled to be completed by October 2014. This mirrors the provincial Governor’s and the Thai Government’s recognition of the importance of the marine Industry to the island economy.
Phuket on a Roll
As the industry positions itself for the next show in January the island hosts two major regattas in the next month. The Multihull Solutions Regatta kicks off on 10th July at Ao Chalong Yacht Club followed two weeks later by the Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Race Week. Top sailors from the region will descend on Phuket for the first event of the Asian Yachting Circuit.
Phuket Lifestyle: More Than Marine
Luxury lifestyle is also an important element of the show and will include Villa developments, condominiums, investment opportunities and other lifestyle products such as luxury cars.
Phuket is described as the jewel of the Andaman and is undoubtedly the centre and hub of the Marine Leisure industry in South East Asia with its pristine cruising grounds and excellent service support and infrastructure.
