Mehmet Karabeyoglu of the Turkish based Proteksan Turquoise Shipyard along with Stuart Larsen of Fraser Yachts and Tim Wiltshire of Burgess have united to commission Andrew Winch Designs to develop a new flexible 74-meter mega yacht design.

The new 74-meter mega yacht design has two variations as seen from the designs, renderings and accommodation drawings supplied by Andrew Winch Designs below.

The exterior of the 74-meter project features a long sheer line with sweeping curves and a fully glazed window recess in the hull across the guest cabins, resulting in a modern, elegant and sleek signature.

In contrast, there is a second design option in a traditional style with a stronger look incorporating a shorter sheer line with longer vertical and individual windows.

The 74-meter Proteksan Turquoise superyacht project design has a vast amount of creative and specific features on board such as a spa beach balcony and arrival dock, and the stern swim-stair and open beach club terrace.  A collection of variations within the interior plan enable different clients the opportunity to decide the numbers of guest cabins, size of libraries, cinemas, crew numbers/crew cabins etc.

The prospective client therefore will be able to enjoy a great deal of flexibility in both the exterior design and interior layout of the megayacht.

The new 74m utilises the tested hull platform of the two 70m+ Proteksan Turquoise orders giving large internal volume. With the hull well into build and the flexible design package in place, it is possible that a fast track two year delivery is achievable.

Proteksan Turquoise Shipyard currently has an impressive order book of over 380m in-build and a new 58m superyacht on the dock for the 2010 Monaco Yacht Show.

Below are comments from Proteksan Turquoise’s Mehmet Karabeyoglu on the new 74m superyacht design

”Although we often use our own in-house design office, we also call upon other well known designers to provide customers with different design approaches, and we also welcome the customers own choice of designer. When I discussed this new 74m project with Stuart from Fraser and Tim from Burgess, who were responsible in bringing in the clients for the last two 70+m orders, we decided to call upon the services of Andrew Winch and his team to provide us with a flexible, creative offering and add the strong Andrew Winch brand value to the project. With two 70+m projects already in build we again have our dynamic and knowledgeable team ready to market this project and add more in the future.

A key factor with this new yacht is our combined approach to the positioning of the total proposition from a standpoint of a deep understanding of what our clients really want to be offered. This shared insight combines our own customer experience in building our impressive fleet of yachts, the customers and marketplace developed over time by Burgess and Fraser and the personal insights that Andrew Winch has accumulated over a long and illustrious career. I believe we have a formidable marketing team behind a world-class 74m yacht.”

All of the support team associated with launching this Proteksan Turquoise project agree and support the solid statement by Mehmet. Stuart Larsen of Fraser Yachts adds ”We speak with our customer base on a daily basis, as does Tim Wiltshire of Burgess and have a keen sense of what these clients want in a new yacht. Together with Mehmet and Andrew Winch we have distilled this knowledge into offering a range of 74m yacht variations to potential customers that we have identified through successfully selling similar 70+m Proteksan Turquoise yachts. With a price tag of €55m (approx $70m) we all believe we have a very strong offering.”

As can be seen from the designs, renderings and accommodation drawings supplied by Andrew Winch Designs for the two variations, the potential client has a great deal of flexibility in both the exterior design and interior layout.

Comments from Andrew Winch on the new 74m design, which is based on the Proteksan Turquoise 70+m platform.

”After many years of conversations with Mehmet Karabeyoglu, it is a great pleasure to have been asked to develop a new design based on the Proteksan Turquoise 70+m platform.

The design has developed from a brief taking Mehmet’s huge experience along with the in-depth requirements of two of his valued colleagues and brokers, Stuart Larsen from Fraser Yachts and Tim Wiltshire from Burgess – both of whom have sold numerous Proteksan Turquoise yachts to their clients over the years. I bring 25 years of design experience, including sailing yachts, motor yachts, aviation projects and architectural design.

Recently we have completed two 60m Motor yachts, including the award winning motor yacht ‘Slipstream’; as well as the original motor yachts ‘Phoenix’, ‘Cakewalk’ and the 82m ‘Sarafsa’. Currently we have yachts in-build ranging in size from 43m to 100m and larger! These projects are all turnkey designed, including the superstructure, deck plans, interior arrangement and interior decoration. Our signature continues to be quality and individuality. We can develop an interior completely, from the architectural plans to the decoration, from the Classical to the Contemporary!

For the exterior of this 74m project we have created a long sheer line with a fully glazed window recess in the hull across the guest cabins, resulting in an elegant and sleek signature. In contrast, an option for a stronger look has been designed incorporating a shorter sheer line with longer vertical and individual windows.

The design has a huge amount of creative and specific features on board – from the spa beach balcony and arrival dock, to the stern swim-stair and open beach club terrace.

The Proteksan Turquoise 74m has a collection of variations within the interior plan to provide different client opportunities with the numbers of guest cabins, size of libraries, cinemas, crew numbers/crew cabins etc. A spectacular master bedroom suite is on the upper deck with its own forward balcony and terrace, although it can also be placed in other positions.

A helicopter landing area is isolated to the bow of the yacht, leaving the stern completely clear for leisure, relaxing and entertaining. The wheelhouse deck has a large multifunction room at the rear, opening onto a unique inside/outside gym and exercise terrace, alternatively all of this could be a wonderful owner’s library and sunset bar!

With many owner’s options, creative features and elegant lines, this Winch designed 74m will certainly be a successful evolution of the Proteksan Turquoise line!”
