BMT Nigel Gee, a subsidiary of the BMT Group, has joined Superyacht UK, a flagship association within the British Marine Federation set up to promote British excellence in the superyacht sector. The association boasts over 160 members operating in the design, build and service provision of yachts over 24 metres load line length.

James Roy, Yacht Design Director at BMT said: “BMT Nigel Gee have been participating in Superyacht UK activities for many years but have previously stopped short of full membership. By formalising our relationship with Superyacht UK we believe we are better positioned to contribute towards the valuable work that Superyacht UK does, not only for the UK superyacht sector but also the wider industry”.

BMT Nigel Gee will participate in the Superyacht UK Technical Sub-Group focusing on technical and regulatory issues facing the industry, formulation of the UK lobbying position and providing guidance to the Technical Department of the British Marine Federation. These are all areas in which BMT Nigel Gee has particular expertise and will be able to share its unique knowledge and insights with the superyacht community.

James Roy continued: “We have just completed research to determine what impact future regulations will have on the design of large yachts, with specific application to yachts of over 3000 GRT (Gross Registered Tonnage) and carrying more than 12 passengers.  Our work has focused on quantifying the changing regulations within the SOLAS regime with specific application to large yachts.  This work is something we are keen to share with the industry via the Superyacht UK technical committee.”
