YachtInfo—the collaborative effort of ISS, MIASF and USSA to provide professional development for the industry—today announces the content and format of the Captains Briefing segment of its full day of events on Friday, 29 October 2010. Immediately following the Crew Seminars (which conclude at 4:00 pm), the Captains Briefing will provide owners, captains, and senior officers the opportunity to hear the latest updates on the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) and the Jones Act.
The Captains Briefing is hosted by John Mann while Corey Ranslem moderates the panel, posing questions pertaining to MLC, the Jones Act and how those respective regulations affect large yachts ans superyachts around the world. “We are delighted to have this distinguished group of experts as our panelists,” says Ranslem, CEO of Secure Waters. Ranslem notes, “With so many large yachts registered in the Cayman and Marshall Islands, it is particularly important to have Peter Southgate and Gene Sweeney give their insights into the likely implications for the respective Registries.” Panelists discussing these critical matters include the following policy professionals.
Andy Anderson—Partner, Houck/Anderson
Paul Anderson—Federal Maritime Commission (former)
Dieter Jaenicke—Chairman and Founder, Viking Recruitment Limited
Peter Southgate—Advisor, Maritime Policy, Legislative Development and Shipping Master, Cayman Islands Registry
