The organizers of the Yacht CN 2014 – Nansha Bay International Boat Show, running from October 16-19 and the China Yachting Conference (CYC), which will be held concurrently with the Boat Show on October 17-18, are delighted to announce the finalization of the CYC program.
The program is a mix of old and new faces. Industry heavyweights who presented two years ago, are back, including Julian Goldie (International Director, Yacht Harbour Association, UK), Andrew Chapman (President, Marina Industry Association, Australia) and Bill Green (Technical Director, Camper & Nicholson Marinas). Mostly though, the Conference will see a slew of new faces and fresh topics. As an example, Qin Jie (Deputy Chief Engineer, CCCC-FHDI Engineering) will speak on the new Marina Code that China is introducing. It is a document with far reaching impact that all marina developers must be conversant with. Then, there is Rob Bolton from New Zealand who will talk about fuelling stations. Few Chinese marinas, if any, have fuel stations. Hopefully Bob can help unlock the mystery behind fuel installations and in the process smoothen the regulatory process for their approval. Many marinas are interested in catering to superyachts. Who better to speak on superyachts than the Port Authority of Monaco? Gian Battiste Borea D’Olmo, the Managing Director of the Port of Monaco is our speaker on this subject.
Then there are topics of particular interest to yacht dealers and yacht owners which are mainly clustered in Day Two. Topics include the Chinese regulatory regime surrounding yacht imports, bonded warehousing, and border controls (customs and immigration). For new and prospective yacht owners, they will want to hear about choosing a yacht (a designer’s perspective), yacht classification & registration, survey & maintenance, the role of insurance, and some aspects of maritime law that affect them. Last but not least, there are two presentations about what you can do with a yacht (a talk on big game fishing, and another on cruising the exotic Pacific Islands).
There is ample time for networking and meeting delegates and speakers in the coffee breaks and lunches, as well as the Cocktail reception and BBQ dinner in the evening. The last conference in 2011 received glowing reviews. This is a biennial conference is an industry benchmark you will not want to miss.
The China Yachting Conference 2014 will run 17th to 18th October 2014, (alongside Yacht CN which runs 16 to 19 October 2014). Simultaneous translation (Chinese to English and vice versa) is offered.
