Today, Tuesday, October 28, 2014, saw H.E. Sultan Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and President of Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), open the 7th edition of the Seatrade Middle East Maritime 2014, the region’s leading maritime sector event, taking place on the sidelines of Dubai Maritime Week 2014. Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the event will last until October 30, 2014. It continues to be held up by industry experts as the region’s premier event for the maritime industry.
H.E. Bin Sulayem made a tour of the event. He visited DMCA’s pavilion to learn about the Authority’s latest services which aim at activating the channels of communication amongst regional and international industry professionals while also introducing decision-makers, industry leaders and businessmen to best practices to ensure optimal use of available growth prospects across the maritime sector in Dubai which is moving forward to becoming one of the leading maritime destinations in the world.
Organized by Seatrade, Seatrade Middle East Maritime 2014 sees the participation of 298 international exhibitors from 34 countries over 4,983 sq m of exhibition space, an increase of 14 per cent over the 2012 edition, to explore the promising opportunities available across the local, regional and international maritime sector. It aims to establish strong strategic partnerships among industry leaders to make optimal use of new business opportunities. The event offers an ideal platform to promote robust cooperation between decision-makers, experts, businessmen and industry professionals to exchange international best practices to drive maritime sector development.
Held every two years, Seatrade Middle East Maritime focuses on what is important to the maritime industry – from commercial marine to offshore, ports, piracy and energy services. With a wide audience spanning across the whole of the Middle East, the show attracts the region’s largest number of key industry players, as well as strong international representation. This year’s event features the country pavilions of China, Malaysia, Singapore, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UK, among others with over 7,000 participants from 67 countries anticipated for the 3-day conference and exhibition.
Besides Seatrade Middle East Maritime, Dubai Maritime Week features a series of interactive activities such as conferences, panel discussions, workshops, awards ceremony and others. The Seatrade Maritime Awards Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa took place on Monday (October 27, 2014).
