Next year’s 13th edition of the SEATEC (SEA TECHNOLOGY & DESIGN) is set to run from February 4 to 6. The event represents the international trade fair of reference for anyone involved in components, mechanics and engines, engines and propulsion systems, electronics and domotics, raw materials as well as finished products, design and engineering for ships, boats and yachts.
SEATEC is an event not to be missed, destined for professional operators who can find the best of what companies in the marine and shipbuilding industries have to offer with a unique quality: 100% quality in the heart of made in Italy.
The nautical sector is in fact one of the few sectors in Italy where the production chain of subcontracting, services and design manages to show the knowledge, excellence and competence of small as well as large companies. The proximity to production areas that represent excellence in the construction of super yachts makes SEATEC the ideal setting for a specialised exhibition in the sector held in Marina di Carrara (in the CarraraFiere exhibition centre), halfway between Livorno and Genoa. This area includes the districts of Viareggio and Pisa, where the most prestigious shipyards in the world are located, the undisputed leaders in the production of large boats and areas synonymous with quality recognised globally.
Seatec takes place alongside the 7th edition of Compotec, the international exhibition for composites and related technologies, which is the only trade event in Italy dedicated to this sector. The market has grown significantly in recent years in various areas of application, thanks to the development of new technologies and the excellent mechanical properties of composites in relation to weight, durability and versatility.
Exhibiting at Compotec are leading companies (producers, distributors) as well as universities, research institutes, institutions and associations that show a wide range of high profile products: 80 brands (including 21 foreign) took part in the 2014 edition.
Seatec is also hosting the fifth edition of Yare – Yacht Refit After sales & Experience – the event dedicated to refitting, an increasingly strategic sector for the entire Italian marine industry. The exhibitors of Yare are companies that deal with services: yacht agencies, brokers, crew managers, flag registers, refitting clusters and service companies. At the centre of YARE, at the events that will be taking place between Viareggio and Marina di Carrara, are the captains and yacht managers of super yachts and mega yachts (over 24 m). They are invited to meet the companies participating in the two days dedicated to the B2C meetings – Meet the Captain.
Since last year, Seatec organizes “Med Village”, an area dedicated to the system of yacht production in the Mediterranean basin and reserved for private enterprises (components, marinas and pleasure ports) from the area.
For several years now, the Show has been addressing the issue of environmental sustainability with GreenTec, a project that allows exhibitors to flag products and services based on the criteria of eco-compatibility, energy saving and respect for the environment.
The commercial and cultural value of SEATEC is enhanced by workshops, conferences and seminars that enrich the exhibition, together with events in “ABITARE IL MARE”, a container of events and conferences related to design issues.
The prestigious awards play an important role too as they add further appeal to the exhibition. These include the MYDA (Millennium Yacht Design Award) that presents new projects by professional designers and young designers and the Qualitec Technology and Qualitec Design Awards, competitions reserved for exhibitors in the field of technological innovation and furnishings that best contribute to the needs of living on board.
SEATEC is anyway a significant event as, in addition to the exhibition event, there are numerous foreign delegations allowing exhibitors to participate in B2B meetings with excellent potential foreign buyers. At last year’s exhibition, more than 700 meetings between operators and companies were held, organised and coordinated by the ICE, the Agency for the promotion and internationalisation of Italian companies.
Finally, a look at the data from last year that consolidated the success of the event and its position as a reference among the international trade fairs in this industry. In all, the three main areas of the exhibition (Seatec, Compotec and Yare) recorded the participation of 458 brands in total (+4% compared to 2013), of which 163 foreign on a total area of about 21,000 square metres in three exhibition halls. The number of visitors increased, including those who came from other and non-EU countries: 8,346 (+10.5% compared to the previous edition), of which 8% from abroad, recording here too an increase of 3%.
Seatec and Compotec both use Twitter, with the possibility of directing to SeatecCompotec to report the news of exhibitors and stay in touch with the world of boating 2.0.
